An outdoor chaise

If you are in the market for an outdoor chaise, you have plenty of different styles to choose from. If you live in an area with quite a bit of rain, a teak chaise will work as teak is weather resistant hence why it was often used in shipbuilding. If you like old fashioned or unusual furniture you may prefer a wrought iron chaise.

Outdoor chaise lounge chairs are very comfortable especially when you add cushions making sure that they are water and mildew resistant. You can buy a single or a double chaise lounge if you prefer to cozy up to your partner when sunbathing or perhaps you just like the extra space! Once you buy an outdoor double chaise coupled with patio furniture set, your garden is ready for any entertaining you feel like doing. Garden chaise furniture comes in a range of styles and prices and it is very easy to mix and match from different ranges.

An outdoor daybed is the perfect way to relax after a long hard swim in the pool. Or when you come home from a stressful day at the office, having the ability to put your feet up on an outdoor settee is just the ultimate in luxury. By relaxing and enjoying the different sounds of nature, you will slowly feel those cares and worries drift away. In all probability you will fall asleep.

It would almost be impossible not to find the perfect chair when there are so many different styles of outdoor chaise lounge to pick from. Some people love the wooden chaise made from teak, walnut or cherry. Others, usually those committed to saving the environment will love the recycled plastic chairs. Plastic garden furniture, provided it is cared for properly, will last for years but I have to say that personally I prefer a teak chaise. I think it looks more elegant and feels more comfortable especially when you add chaise lounge cushions. There is nothing better than going for a dip in the pool to cool off and then heading back to my outdoor bed with a good book and a nice drink. Oh and hubby in the background ready to do the honors with the suntan lotion. Bliss!

You won’t find many plastic outdoor chaise chairs at hotels or resorts and one must ask why? The usual answer is that these are prone to collapsing just as you sit into them which is not only embarrassing but can cause painful injuries. If the chair doesn’t collapse, the rubber tubing will work lose and this can stop it reclining. At the top class hotels, your pool chair will be made from wood usually although some hotels prefer those made from aluminum, power coated steel or resin. All of these materials tend to last longer than plastic assuming they are properly cared for.

If budget is an issue or you just like the unique look, you can purchase an unfinished wood outdoor chaise lounge. People are often scared of buying bare wood furniture as they believe that there is a lot of work involved in turning it into the finished article. Obviously it depends on the quality of the item you purchase. If you buy a piece with a lot of knots, each individual knot will have to be properly treated before you can apply the stain or paint finish. But if you buy a quality piece of unfinished furniture, you may just have to sand it down lightly and then apply wood varnish or paint.

As this is an outdoor bed, you will want to add some preservative to the finish as well. It won’t take you very long and the end result is a charming and unique piece of garden patio furniture at a great price. If you are buying more than one piece of garden furniture, buying a set of outdoor chaises or chairs from a discount wood furniture store or bare wood store can help to achieve excellent savings. Even after you factor in the cost of hiring a carpenter to finish the set off for you if you don’t fancy doing it yourself, you can still make huge savings compared to buying a finished wooden patio set.

A teak outdoor chaise lounge is probably the ultimate in luxury garden furniture. Yes it is initially more expensive than the alternatives available but given both how long it will last and the fact that it will retain its natural beauty, it is an investment well worth making.

But be prepared. It is very common to set out with the intention of just buying a single outdoor chaise lounge perhaps to complement existing garden patio furniture set. But when your friends and family catch sight of this chair and worse when they lie on it, you will probably be sent back out to buy a couple of extra chaise lounges to go by the pool. You have been warned!
